I just want to confirm, using the default installation, is there a limit on how may emails can be sent by a single user in roundcube mail?

On our current email service, 500 emails an hour is the limit, if we exceed that, we wait an hour berfore we can send again.
We want to send more than 500 emails an hour when we send email announcements/memo.

Thanks!

Disabling oubout Amavisd scanning

The past 2 days we pushed out 30,000 plus emails  to clients which took a bit over 50+ hours to send.
A bit perturbed by sever lack of speed postfix was delivering mail we determined that the issue was that AMAVISD was processing all output emails. This of course is be design, however, it chews up entirely to much IO on the disks and slows delivery performance down severly.

Benchmark runs today with Amavisd disabled in /etc/postfix/main.cf:
#content_filter = smtp-amavis:[127.0.0.1]:10024

-- > The time to send 200 emails to the same destination address was 44 seconds.

With amavisd enabled and performing in its default configuration:
-- > The time to send 200 emails to the same destination address was 7min ~14sec

In an attempt to maintain INBOUND scanning but disable outbound scanning I followed the wiki
iredmail.org/wiki/index.php?title=IRedMail/FAQ/Disable.Spam.Virus.Scanning.for.Outgoing.Mails

Of which, for CentOS6, the amavisd.conf is not in /etc/amavisd.conf, but is now within it's own dir in /etc/amavisd/amavisd.conf

I've modified the section as follows, which appears to have mitigated some of the IO issues, however, to send 200 emails, will takes ~7minutes to complete.

The only conclusion I can come to is that Amavisd is still processing the outbound emails instead of skipping them.

*** Is there a concrete manner in which to determine if amavis d has stopped scanning outbound emails? ***

The only indication I can see so far in the logs are:
Full scanning shows this value: "Hits: 1.179"
With config below, logs show this value: "Hits: -"

Also, is  the following the proper way to reload the amavisd configs?
# /etc/init.d/amavisd restart

In a nutshell I need to get send performance up to speed while still maintaining inbound scans and stop outbound scanning.

/etc/amavisd/amavisd.conf

Zhang,

Are you talking about Sender White-listing or Recipient White-listing in the following thread ?
http://www.iredmail.org/forum/post21835.html#p21835

http://policyd.sourceforge.net/readme.html
The url you sent says that :
    Please note that address whitelist will be matched only against
    the  sender address. For recipient  whitelisting,  please refer
    to the opt-in/opt-out section below.

In my case, I am the recipient (abc@mydomain.org). There is an email sender john@bank.com, which is getting rejected by my server because of greylist=new and john's server doesn't try again. But John is not a spammer. So I want to whitelist John.

So I think the solution is "Sender Whitelisting" in the above readme url.

Please clarify. Thanks.

If I install Samba4 on virgin Centos Server, then follow wiki:
  http://www.iredmail.org/wiki/index.php? … y.iRedMail

I expect to have a problem with port 389, what does everyone think about modifying port in /etc/default/slapd to read:
   SLAPD_SERVICES="ldap://localhost:3389 ldapi:///"

Will that be enough to get everything working since Postfix, Roundcube & Dovecot will be modified to use localhost's AD ?

Any comments regarding this project? Should it work? Has it failed? Has it succeeded for others?

I installed iRedMail-0.8.4 on a "Fresh" install of CentOS 6.2; the OS is installed on a virtual machine (OpenVZ).
During install I choose to use iRedMail's iptable rules.
after the post install reboot, I can no longer resolve DNS with the firewall up. I can still dig google.com with the firewall down. No changes were made to my resolv.conf file and the files in /var/spool/postfix/etc/ match the /etc/ files.

On previous attempts to fix this issue myself I added the following rules to iptables to no avail:
iptables -A INPUT -p tcp --dport 53 -j ACCEPT
iptables -A INPUT -p udp --dport 53 -j ACCEPT

I have no idea what i'm overlooking. Below you will find the results of dig google.com with the firewall up then down, as well as the result for iptables -L -n :

Thanks in advance

Can't send or receive, smtp error 451

Hello guys, I had a sucessful instalation of iRedMail before in a VPS in DigitalOcean, but after I try to install ruby (rvm and rails) the server stopped working...

So I deleted the server (completely) and created another... Installed apache, mysql, blablabla and installed iredmail sucessfully.
But when I try to send an e-mail they said to me "SMTP Error: SMTP error(451): Failed to add recipient".

And when I try to send from gmail to my iredmail account I don't receive the e-mail.

Could you help-me? I don't know why doesn't works, iRedMail is really simple to install...

Thanks for the support, cheers! ;)

I'm setting up a new email server for my employer. The old email server has to go. I ran the iRedMail installation without a problem, in addition to applying a static IP to the server. The interfaces values are essentially the same as the old email server, same IPv4 address, gateway, etc. I am able to send emails without a problem; however, I cannot receive emails. What have I done wrong???

The DNS records are correct as well. I ran "dig" and received the appropriate response.

Cannot send or receive emails - user does not exist

I installed iRedMail-0.8.4 on a "Fresh" install of CentOS 6.2; the OS is installed on a virtual machine (OpenVZ). Had an immediate issue with the firewall which has been disabled until email functionality is working. When I send an email from Roundcube on the server, It initially shows to send, but a Undeliverable mail message appears in the inbox.

Hi Zhang,

There is the lines:

host =  127.0.0.1
port =  3306
  db = iredadmin

And now when i would like to delete a message from my email box i have this error:

Thank's for help

Hi there,

I'm just wondering, if I were to set up iRedMail with gluster replication, as indicated in the wiki, would master\slave\slave mysql replication work, or would it break something.

Thank you.

Due to some reasons I need to move vmail folder to another drive. I tried to do rsync & I was able to copy all the files and structure with same old date and time stamp.
I made symbolic link and new mail flow was fine but problem is, all the mail boxes started downloading old mails again .

Is there any way where I can copy location of the folder without this problem.

Thanks

Pine

Mailbox quota exceeded the limit, emails from senders are rejected.

When the user mailbox exceeded the limit, all new messages are reject from the any sender without any message. (In my Exchange Client I receive: Your message was deleted without read). The quota_exceeded_message don't work in my server.

I use:
#############################

protocol lda {
    postmaster_address = root
    auth_socket_path = /var/run/dovecot/auth-master
    mail_plugins = quota sieve autocreate
    sieve_global_path = /var/vmail/sieve/dovecot.sieve
    log_path = /var/log/sieve.log
    quota_full_tempfail = yes
}

plugin {  quota_rule = *:storage=300M }

plugin { quota_exceeded_message = Quota exceeded }

##############################################

When change the quota_full_tempfail to "no", the messajes automatically rejected and the sender receive "Your message was deleted without read". When the quota_full_tempfail is set to "yes", the message is reject without messages to sender.

I need that the senders receive: "Automatically rejected mail: Quota exceeded".

Any idea?

Did a yum update and dovecot failed to start on reboot. Errors listed below:
Jun 18 12:07:46 config: Error: Module is for different version 2.0.21: /usr/lib/dovecot/settings/libmanagesieve_login_settings.so
Jun 18 12:07:46 config: Error: Module is for different version 2.0.21: /usr/lib/dovecot/settings/libmanagesieve_settings.so

Managed to get it working by editing the enabled protocols line as below:
protocols = pop3 imap #sieve

What killed it and what am I missing ?
